As ridiculous as the name sounds,
(n)erotic Entertainment only gets serious about one thing: making great music and getting it to the people.
This label was formed in 2005 by Evan Sawdey, a memember of the eccentric indie-rock group
Corresponding Handpieces. The label was initially formed as a means to better distribute the Handpieces' material, but it soon became so much more than that.
As time went on, the roster of artists slowly began to grow. Though Sawdey would continualy release solo recordings via his
SawdEye pseudonym (including a well-received
full-length album), it was groups like
the Avenging Unicorns and
the Interoffice Romance that ultimately would become popular favorites, drawing heavy amounts of downloads and acclaim. The Unicorns' won raves for their madcap gureilla-folk album
The Traveling LP while the IOR became famous for their signature blend of acoustic hip-hop covers and broad-range comedy (a full-length album is in the works as this is written).
Yet this was only a part of the story. Corresponding Handpieces' greatest hits compilation --
Hilarious Decapitations -- soon became one of the single most popular albums in
(n)erotic's history, and the group has gone on to record
a full-length album since then. Along the way,
(n)erotic released EPs and singles from the likes of
Three Car Garage (a crazed country-rock group) and
Benjanmin Durdle (who has released some stellar folk-rock EPs outside of his work with the Avenging Unicorns). Yet this is only the tip of the iceberg: there still hasn't even been mention of electro-pop duo Liquid Toaster, incredible singer-songwriter Lisa Choi, the one-minute piano-pop songs of the International Keyboard Accident and so many more. Needless to say,
(n)erotic is a place for music artists, largely because it's run by them.
Enjoy, share, revel and relish. The great thing about
(n)erotic is that you'll never get bored: there's always something new around the corner.
